Sindh maritime net on March 18, recently, the world's largest chemical shipping company said that it is expected that the Marine chemical market will start to improve in 2019 and further strengthen in 2020!
Stolt-nielsen, the world's largest chemical shipping company, recently said the stolt-nielsen chemical shipping market "finally" sees an improvement this year and that the market will continue to strengthen in 2020.
Niels g. stolt-nielsen, stolt-nielsen's chief executive, said the outlook for the chemical tanker market remained cautiously optimistic as demand growth kept pace with global trade. From 2017 to 2018, the ocean-going chemical tanker fleet's annual capacity growth rate is about 6 percent, and is expected to gradually drop to about 2 percent or less by 2020 and 2021.
"Given that new orders remain low, we expect that the excess capacity will eventually be absorbed into a more balanced market." Assuming no unexpected deterioration in global economic and/or trade conditions, we may eventually start to see improvements in chemical shipments later this year and continue to strengthen in 2020.
Stolt Tankers company President Mark f. Martecchini also said that as the number of new ships to enter the market to reduce, and the growing demand, for chemicals shipping market in 2019 will be a turning point.
Martecchini said the withdrawal of "" swing capacity" "from the chemicals shipping market would further support the market's improvement, at least in the short term, if spot freight rates in the clean tanker market maintain their gains through the end of 2018.
"As new ships enter the market with less capacity, and as expected volatility declines, the spot freight market in the chemical tanker market should improve, ultimately contributing to the rise in term charter contracts."
"Turning point is hard to predict the exact time, industry estimates vary, but Stolt Tankers expects the situation to improve before the end of the year, market conditions will be improved significantly by 2020."
But the cautious shipowner also said: "nevertheless, given the current political risks and other uncertainties, including the future direction of fuel costs and the impact of the new IMO2020 sulphur limit, we need to remain cautious."
